Each piece tells its own story. We respect the original details of the blanket (such as the all-round trims) and seamlessly incorporate them into the final design, preserving the essence and warmth of the blanket used.

The "Burgundy - Pink" Jacket - Coat is made from an antique 60's hand woven wool blanket with a beautiful pattern of nature and people in traditional uniforms from rural Greece.

This jacket offers versatility with its collarless small round neck and dropped shoulders with roomy sleeves and two front patch pockets, with the beautiful initial finished blanket edging as a cute detail. Due to the less smooth nature of this blanket, we use a beautiful warm and smooth quilt as a lining so that the blanket does not come into contact with the body.

The button loops in a soft pink same as the lining provide both style and functionality, while a hanger loop at the back completes the design. We have chosen stylish buttons in shades of burgundy to add a luxurious touch to the overall design.

The unique story behind your coat:

Once, in the chilly October of 2022 in The Hague, I found a cosy stall run by a Greek woman named Theodora. Intrigued, I asked about a special pink and burgundy wool blanket she was displaying. It was love at first sight. With a warm smile, Dora told its story - a family heirloom from the mountains of Thessaly, Greece, woven in the 1960s.

This blanket, which had been in Dora's family for 50 years, had never been used. Its detailed design depicted traditional uniforms from rural Greece during the 19th century, evoking a bygone era. When Dora let it go, she emphasised its dual purpose - warmth as a blanket and as a sturdy rug!!!

The handmade blanket made me feel doubly connected, having grown up in Greece and understanding the craft behind such blankets. Transforming it into a jacket has deepened my connection to the past, blending cultures across time and borders. The jacket, born in the looms of Thessaly and reworked in the heart of the Netherlands, became a symbol of tradition, creativity and a harmonious fusion of two distant worlds. Hope it finds a loving home soon! And pass it on to the next generation! It is a masterpiece!

Raw material costs around 155 euros.

Crafted by Katerina, who mended, and hand washed the blanket, designed the pattern, deconstructed trims , and cut the material. Sewn by Yasar in our partner’s atelier, and the button loops were hand-sewn by Katerina herself.

We hope you find this story intriguing and enriching. Wrap yourself in warmth and comfort around the clock as the raw fabric has a rich history of over 50 years.

Wear it with joy for years to come and then add your story to it and give it to your loved ones.

Love (and Flowers)

From Upcycled Collection : The “antique Pink - Burgundy” *wool blanket as raw material.

*100% wool blanket: “Not all wool can be called “pure new wool”. Only the directly processed, first shearing of healthy living sheep receives this name. Unlike regular wool, the fibers have a natural shine. Pure new wool is a wonderful product. Comfortable; on the one hand it maintains body temperature and on the other hand it is permeable to moisture. It regulates the ambient temperature. Environmentally friendly; it is biodegradable and it is a raw material that grows again in nature. Safe; it is flame retardant, antistatic and does not dry out. Durable; it lasts a long time while maintaining its appearance.”
